The contractor will assist Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in developing the most appropriate data collection framework and stock assessment model for commercially harvested Arctic char with the ultimate goal of estimating stock-specific biomass and biological reference points as required for stocks listed within the Fish Stock Provisions (FSPs). Specifically, this project aims to synthesize all data and information for the 5 stocks of Artic Char in Cambridge Bay to: (1) evaluate stock status and biological reference points; (2) identify effective management strategies; (3) quantify value of data collection protocols; (4) investigate management strategies robust to uncertainty over multi-stock dynamics; (5) create a central resource (splash page, repository, package) to support future research on Arctic Char harvested and under commercial and exploratory licenses, (6) contribute (as an external expert and co-author of the Research Document) to the Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) stock assessment planned for this fishery in 2028. .
