The National Research Council Canada (NRC) has a requirement to support the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Life Cycle Initiative’s Biogenic Carbon Project – Phase II. The objective of this work is to support the development of harmonized, credible, and scientifically robust methodologies for accounting for biogenic carbon in life cycle assessments (LCAs) of bio-based products.
The work will involve supporting NRC’s participation in the project and facilitating coordination with UNEP through an organization capable of providing liaison, reporting, and administration functions, while contributing expertise in life cycle assessment of wood construction products and associated life cycle inventory (LCI) data relevant to the Canadian context.
The contractor will be required to:
• Participate in activities related to the UNEP Life Cycle Initiative’s Biogenic Carbon Project – Phase II, including engagement with the North American
Collaboration Group.
• Provide monthly progress reports to NRC summarizing participation in project activities, updates from collaboration group meetings, and communications with UNEP.
• Report on key findings and their high-level implications for the Canadian wood construction sector.
• Facilitate coordination and information exchange between NRC, UNEP, and relevant project participants as required.
• Support the administrative and financial coordination of NRC’s participation in the project, including communication with UNEP regarding project activities and reporting requirements.
