This project involves replacing the existing fire alarm system at the Sir Frederick Banting Building with a new fully addressable, networked fire alarm system while maintaining continuous building operations and fire protection throughout construction. The work includes installing new fire alarm equipment, devices, wiring, and controls; integrating the system with elevators, HVAC equipment, electromagnetic locks, fire protection systems, emergency generators, and the monitoring station; and completing all required testing, verification, commissioning, and code compliance activities. Once the new system is operational and accepted, the existing fire alarm infrastructure will be removed and all affected areas restored. The work will be carried out in phases within an occupied laboratory and office facility, requiring careful coordination to minimize disruptions and maintain life-safety functions at all times.
